What Men Really Mean When They Say They Want Your Respect. (Hint…It is not to obey.)

by Carolyn 15 Comments

Don’t we hear it over and over in the media? Men just want respect while women want to feel loved. I get it and was sorta listening but when it really came down to it I felt that they were just replacing the word love with respect and isn’t it the same thing? And I love my husband so I obviously was respecting him, right?

My other thought was that respect meant that men think people should obey what they say. Is that what they mean by respect?

It isn’t.

What men really mean when they say they want your respect. It is not to obey. I asked my husband one night what it meant to respect your husband and to give me examples and this is what he told me. It was different than what I had always thought. [Read more…]

Siblings Fighting? 3 Tips To Help Them Get Along.

by Carolyn 30 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. See my disclosure here.

I have 2 younger sisters. While growing up our fighting was intense in the house with 3 girls. We screamed, pulled hair, slammed doors and kicked all the time. Now I am super sorry for what we put my mom through because guess what!?!? My kids are now fighting and this past summer it got to a very annoying level. Siblings fighting can be a real problem and tough to stop.

I had prided myself that I was at least raising my kids to be nicer than my sisters and I were to each other (thank goodness we are all now the best of friends). This summer made me nervous, so I did what I normally do when I know that I am losing control. I went online looking for books on siblings fighting.

Siblings Fighting? 3 Tips to Help Them Get Along. My favorite things I learned from reading Siblings Without Rivalry. They really work and number 2 is just plain good parenting advice even if your kids don't argue. [Read more…]

How To Get Sticker Residue Off Clothes After Going Through The Wash.

by Carolyn 38 Comments

Are you trying to figure out how to get sticker residue off clothes? We have had too many stickers washed onto shirts in this house. Luckily after testing many ways, I have found the easiest way to remove adhesive from their clothes.

I can’t tell you how many shirts I have thrown away because I accidentally left a sticker on their shirt and washed it. Why do schools and camps have to use stickers to remind us parents of spirit nights? I have forgotten name tags too.

How to remove sticker residue from your clothes after they are washed. I have tried picking, soaking and scrubbing but nothing worked. I have thrown away several shirts until I found this way to remove sticker residue. It really does work and is super easy, no scrubbing involved.| how to remove sticker residue off clothes | how to get sticker residue off clothes | how to get a sticker off a shirt

3 Easy Ways To Get Your Children Engaged In Church

by Carolyn 23 Comments

Do you ever look over at your children during church service and see them completely disengaged? They are just doing their best to endure the torture we are supposedly putting them through. 🙂

My kids are good at sitting and being quiet but it is not the same as actually gaining anything from being there. It used to be that most times they weren’t even listening to a single word. I knew I needed to get my children engaged in church services.

My youngest is still in the nursery during services and if she has to come with us she can draw in a notebook. My twins are old enough to actually gain some knowledge from the readings and sermon if they were to open their ears and minds. Here is how I have been working to get the kids to actually listen a little.

Ever look over at your children and see them totally disengaged at church? Here are 3 ways to help your kids actually gain something from attending service. These tips actually helped get my children engaged in church. [Read more…]

“Mommy! I had a bad dream!”

This statement is always screamed at the top of their lungs at 2:45 am, right??

So when my daughter started waking in the middle of the night with bad dreams I had to run out and get all the books I could to read to her about why she shouldn’t be scared.

Is Your Child Scared of Public Restrooms? 3 Things That Help.

by Carolyn 26 Comments

Imagine being only 28 inches tall walking into a big room that has loud flushes and super loud hand dryers going off, over and over. Especially sitting on a toilet that may forcefully flush without warning! I can see why this makes most children anxious.

My little girl walks into the public restrooms with her hands over her ears before she even gets through the door. When she was really young the toilet flushed when she was sitting on it and it was months before she would go in a public toilet again. I asked some fellow Moms for solutions and of course they all had great solutions.

Is Your Child Scared of Public Restrooms. 3 Things That Help. My little girl hated the automatic flush in some restrooms. We still use Tip #1 to make things less scary for her. [Read more…]

I hear that over and over from my youngest. My daughter is 4 years old and wants to play dolls all day long. I woke up the first day of summer this year to one of my sons playing on his iPad. I said “Hey, I thought we were going to start off summer right with our chores?” and he said, “Already done, check out my bucket.”. Whoa!! They still work!

These are great for my kids to visually see what chores they need to complete for the day. They love to complete the chore and hear the satisfying plop when they drop the clothes pin into the bucket. These chore buckets have really worked in our house.

My 4 Year Old Still Doesn’t Know Her Letters! 3 Things I’ll Try Next.

by Carolyn 31 Comments

“Come on, I know you know this one!!” I say super frustrated as I am holding up a flash card.

“NO!”, she screams at me and runs away.

Sigh….this is just not going as easily as it did for my older 2 kids. They loved learning. Being able to say the right answer made them motivated to learn and to learn quickly. This just isn’t the case for my daughter. It is like she doesn’t care which frustrates me to no end.

My 4 year old still doesn't know her letters. I have been trying the same ways I used with my boys but they aren't working. Here are 3 things I am trying next.
