5 Fun Ways to Teach Cursive Writing at Home.

by Carolyn 52 Comments

Is cursive writing being taught in your school? Do you need to teach cursive handwriting at home?

In a lot of schools, including ours, cursive is being dropped from the curriculum.

At first I was apathetic and didn’t really care because I barely write in cursive anymore. I thought “Well, everything is going to be typed on computers anyways.”. Then I changed my mind when my boys couldn’t read a card my Grandmother had written to me. I do want my boys to be able to read cursive handwriting so I researched 5 fun ways to teach it at home.

Our school system no longer teaches cursive handwriting. Here are some fun ways I found to teach cursive handwriting at home this summer.

by Carolyn 2 Comments

C sections happen to many of us. It’s a scary time to be faced with a major surgery when giving birth. I have had 2 c sections and want to share the real tips that help with c section recovery.

There isn’t any other surgery where you are expected to immediately take care of someone else and not yourself.

It was a big shock to my system to have a c section, barely be able to get out of bed and my first priority was trying to learn how to breastfeed, waking whenever my twins cried, and being more sleep deprived than I have ever been in my life while still needing my husband to help simply sit on the toilet.

What a crazy first week!

C Section recovery tips hardly anyone shares. Having a c section can be scary and difficult but here are some tips that can help make recovery easier. #csection #csectionrecovery #postpartum [Read more…]

Are time outs no longer working for you either? I need new consequences and luckily a big group of moms have shared their creative punishments for kids.

About age 5 my boys seemed to have no change in behavior when I sent them to time out. They would come out of timeout and the first thing they would do is the same behavior that got them in trouble in the first place.

3 Small But Necessary Investments That Set Your Kids Up For Life

by Carolyn 5 Comments

This is a sponsored post with Jenny Life Insurance and BraVoMark. All opinions are mine.

We all want to teach our kids to be self sufficient and independent. To do this we have to take the time to invest in our kids. Small moments of patiently teaching, coaching and correcting all add up to making great children. Unfortunately sometimes I find myself doing the exact opposite. I am impatient and just do it myself instead of taking a moment to teach my kids.

I specifically had the opportunity this week to teach my boys how to unload the dishwasher. I know this is a task that they can handle at 10 years old but I have just been doing it myself because it is faster and I know where everything belongs. I had to stop myself and give myself a talking to and realize that this isn’t helping them to become the type of man that I want them to be.

This made me realize that there are a bunch of things that as moms we have to get out of the normal routine of just making it through the day and take some time to make the small investments into our kids futures.

Make these 3 small investments in your kids to give them a great future.#JennyLife #ad [Read more…]
